Login Alert – Know Instantly When Someone Signs In to Your Odoo Account
Standard Odoo gives you no way to know if someone else is using your account with your password. This module emails you the moment a login – or even a login attempt – happens from a new device, browser, or IP, with the location, operating system, and browser details. It also keeps a login history users and admins can review, so a compromised account never goes unnoticed.
What Does This Module Do?
This module adds login security alerts to Odoo. When a successful login happens on your account from a new system, browser, or IP address, you receive an email letting you know – complete with the location, operating system, and browser it came from. It also alerts you to login attempts from a new system, browser, or IP, so you hear about unsuccessful sign-in efforts too, not just completed ones. Both the successful-login and login-attempt email templates are editable, so you can word them however you like. On top of the alerts, users can review and manage their own login history from their preferences, and administrators get a login-history page on the users view to oversee it across the system.
Why Do You Need It?
Your Odoo account holds sensitive business data, yet out of the box there’s no way to tell if someone else has signed in with your credentials. If a password leaks or is guessed, an intruder could be in your account for days without anyone noticing – and by the time the damage shows up, important data may already be lost or exposed. Login alerts close that blind spot. The moment there’s a sign-in or a sign-in attempt from an unfamiliar device or location, you know, and you can act immediately: change the password, review what happened, and lock things down before harm is done. The searchable login history adds a second layer, letting users and admins audit access after the fact. For any organisation that takes account security seriously, this turns an invisible risk into something you can actually see and respond to.
When Should You Use This Module?
This module is for any organisation that wants better visibility over who is accessing its Odoo accounts. It’s valuable for businesses holding sensitive financial, customer, or operational data, for administrators who need oversight of login activity across all users, and for individual users who simply want to be told if their account is accessed from somewhere unexpected. If you’re concerned about unauthorised access – or you just want the reassurance of knowing every new sign-in is flagged – this gives you real-time alerts and an audit trail. It relies on Odoo’s mail system to send the alerts and runs on Odoo.sh, Cloud, or On Premise (not Odoo Online).
How This Module Works in Practice
Setup needs no technical knowledge and no configuration – just install it. From then on, when your account is successfully signed into from a new device, browser, or IP, you get an alert email with the location, OS, and browser behind the login; and when a login is attempted from an unfamiliar source, you’re alerted to that too. If a message arrives for a login you don’t recognise, that’s your cue to secure the account. Both alert emails use templates you can edit to suit your wording and branding. Meanwhile, each user can open their login history from their preferences to review their own access, and administrators can use the login-history page on the users view to monitor sign-ins across everyone.
